Many dream of a life as a successful blogger. However, it is not just about the content itself. Good blogs are built on one thing above all else: good planning. So good blogs cannot be created overnight with the help of quick tricks or small secrets. As is so often the case, the magic formula here is: hard work and staying on the ball. And that is exactly what is often the greatest challenge for bloggers. Because once the initial motivation evaporates or the topics seem to run out, good blogs quickly become inactive at the beginning and are thus doomed to doom.
So that the same doesn’t happen to you, in this article we want to explain how you can easily stay on the ball with good content planning – just like the professionals do! First of all, we want to clarify a very central question:
What are the advantages of content planning?
Have you ever pursued a goal without a strategy? And if so, how did this end? Probably in the failure to achieve that vision. Maybe because you didn’t really know what to do to reach your goal? And this way of doing things can also be easily transferred to blogging. Because here too, good planning is essential.
Good blogs are characterized above all by regularly published articles of good quality. In particular, this makes planning the content indispensable. They are often the basis for successful, good blogs. But these are not the only advantages of good content planning.
- less stress in creating articles
- increased flexibility in managing the blog
- increased motivation when writing
- Possibility of prescribing articles
- easier implementation of article series
- Help develop your own style for the blog
Forms of content planning for good blogs
Basically, one often differentiates between four different ways of planning the content for good blogs. In addition to the Annual and monthly planning also the Weekly and daily planning .
An annual plan makes sense especially if you are planning larger series of articles. Because these often mean intensive preparation, but such extensive planning in advance can help you with better time management.
Nevertheless, you can still see the annual planning quite loosely, especially at the beginning of your blogger career, and a rough planning is completely sufficient. The most important thing is that you remain open to improvements and changes and that you concentrate more on the near future.
The monthly plan is much more relevant than the annual plan. Because planning a month in advance is a comparatively small amount of time. Such planning can help you to always align the blog with the interests of your readers and to respond to seasonal trends. Monthly planning is particularly useful when special blog entries require intensive preparation in order to use the given time effectively.
The weekly plan is now the first from the list that you should plan in great detail and in a structured manner with fixed deadlines. It is best to record exactly on which day you want to post which article and how many days in advance you have to prepare it. Even if you may now think that this will ruin the spontaneity of your blog, it can help you a lot to really stay on the ball and to establish a regularity in your postings. Your readers will appreciate this reliability and stay loyal to your blog. Nevertheless, planning a week or two in advance does not rule out spontaneous articles, but only helps you to keep track of things.
The daily schedule isn’t necessarily the right choice for everyone as it can build up a lot of pressure. Anyway, you don’t need a daily schedule for every day of the week if you don’t plan to work on your blog every day. Instead, you should look at the daily plan as a TO DO list on which you write down the articles that need to be prepared or written on certain days. But you can also enter administrative tasks on your blog here.
Often times, a daily schedule seems less flexible than plans with a longer time interval, but that doesn’t have to be the case either. If you only plan to publish three articles a week, for example, then you can of course easily replace the planned article on your daily TO DO list with another one. In general, you should see any planning as an aid rather than a leverage. Because the magic formula for good blogs is and will ultimately be that you enjoy blogging.
On average, more than 90 percent of all bloggers give up the dream of their own blog after a short time. This is very often because the initial motivation is not efficiently planned. However, good blogs need a system and structure in order to be successful. So you can see that content planning works like a magic formula. The more thought and input you invest here, the higher quality your blog will be. In addition, it will be much easier for you to stay on the ball, as you always know exactly what needs to be done when and not get caught up in idleness. Nevertheless, planning alone is of course not enough. No matter how beautiful and good any organization is, it is unsuccessful if it is not implemented. In addition, of course, other aspects, such as the content itself, also play an important role. But you can do that in another article learn more.
