CMS stands for the abbreviation of the English term “Content Management System”. So it is a content management system that can be expanded with so-called plugins. Examples are WordPress, Joomla and Drupal as well as Typo3.

A CMS can be used to create and manage content – in text, image, video or other form. They are mainly used to operate websites and are mostly available as open source but also as paid versions.
