Affiliate marketing is a commission business and a sub-division of online marketing.

Affiliate marketing describes a sub-area of online marketing. This form of commission business is about earning commission for advertised products or services through your own website.

example

If a food blogger (the publisher) advertises kitchen products from a manufacturer (also called advertiser) on his blog by means of direct links, this type of advertising is called “affiliate marketing”, provided that the manufacturer or online retailer (advertiser) gives the publisher or Affiliate (advertising / sales partner) pays a commission for this.

Forms of remuneration

In affiliate marketing, remuneration is paid when the Backlink to the advertiser was successful. That means: If a visitor to the blog clicks on the affiliate link and buys a product from the advertiser, the blogger receives a certain percentage of the product price. This remuneration model is also called pay-per-sale (PPS).

Another billing model in affiliate marketing is called pay-per-lead (PPL). An inquiry, contact or newsletter order that has already been made is remunerated with a predetermined amount.
